Puppet theatre is a wonderful way to get to know the magical world of performing arts. Sampo’s performances often deal with emotions and emotional skills, friendship, and overcoming fears and difficult situations. Many performances also explore traditions and customs related to celebrations such as Christmas, Easter, or Kekri. Teacher materials have been created for the performances as well, and you can find them on the page Theatre Education Materials.
Our performances are well suited for daycare, preschool and school-aged children, and the recommended age listed for each show is only a suggestion. None of our performances contain anything frightening or any religious themes, making them suitable for diverse groups.
If you are unsure whether a performance is suitable for your group, you can always ask us for more detailed information.
On Thursdays, we always have an artist meeting after the morning performance. It gives the audience a possibility to ask about the performance and puppet theatre in general. We can also arrange an artist meeting after any performance upon request.
Group tickets: On weekday mornings, guided children’s groups: €9/child, supervisors €1. Reserve tickets by email: toimisto@nukketeatterisampo.fi or by phone: 0207352235!
You can pay on-site with cash or debit/credit card. We can also send an invoice for group visits. The invoice is sent as an e-invoice or by email, but our invoicing system also requires a postal address. If the payer is a city, an official order form with the required details is needed.
At our own venue on Erottajankatu 7, the ticket office opens one hour before the performance starts, and we ask groups to arrive no later than 15 minutes before. Sampo has its own ticket sales at all public performances, even outside our own venue. In cultural centres, the ticket office opens 45 minutes before the performance.
Our Erottajankatu venue is located in the courtyard on the second floor. The entrance is not accessible; there are stairs. We ask that prams be left in the courtyard.
Puppet Theatre Sampo has created a unique puppet theatre art education system, that tens of thousands of children and adults have had a chance to learn by and familiarize themselves with the world of puppetry in over 40 years.
Along with this art education program, Sampo has also published versatile puppetry equipment and books that have also received wide international attention and been translated to many different languages.
Sampo’s audience engagement work is based on artist meetings, teacher cooperation and diverse art education materials. The starting point is the child at the center, as a functional, thinking, imaginative person. All Sampo employees are involved in the development of audience engagement.
One part of the audience engagement is the teacher’s materials related to the performances, which contain tips for watching the performance and handling the experience, as well as making puppet theater together with a group of children.
